We just finished a very successful 2 day Tactical Carbine Course, and are in the process of booking a few others. More information will be forthcoming on the others as soon as we are able to secure dates and times.
  • March 20, 2010 Tactical Carbine I

(1 day, primary instructor: Freddy Wissing)
    - This course is focused on the shooter who perhaps has done some tactical shooting with the AR or Kalashnikov platform, or is interested in developing good fundamentals, or stopping bad habits before they grow. The course has a personal-protection/defensive focus as opposed to favoring competition improvement. The course will emphasize:

  • Basic Handling skills (loading, reloading techniques, press-checks, malfunction clearing)
  • BRM Review (Basic Rifle Marksmanship)
  • Properly organizing and laying out your loadout
  • Stance, presentation, maintaining SA and control before, during, and after target engagement
  • Multidirectional engagement drills from both standing and kneeling
  • Shooting positions, including Urban/Rice Paddy/SBU/Rollover prone variations
  • Making the most of cover
  • Effective cornering with a carbine
  • Rapid Engagement drills
  • Transitioning to support side, and making it work
  • Shooting effectively on the move

We may include other elements if there are demand for them. Please visit the REGISTRATION PAGE to get started. Cost of the course is a very reasonable $110.00 for the day. Round count should be around 200-250. Note that funds must be received within one week of registration confirmation, and refunds will be granted with no questions asked until March 7th. After that date refunds will not be granted without a substitute student available.

  • April 10th-11th, 2010 - 2 Day Precision Rifle Fundamentals, trajectory, and long range ballistics - This course is targeted at the shooter who perhaps has done some long range shooting but wants to shore up their understanding of the concepts, and become more familiar with the proper use and deployment of their gear. We will explore ballistics and trajectory, and take the mystery and the headache out of the math. Range Estimation will be covered with both classroom exercises and actual distance work. Heavy emphasis on BRM (Basic Rifle Marksmanship) and repeatability. Care and Cleaning, ballistic calculator use and many other topics will be covered. Day 1 will be half classroom and 100-200y at LRGC, Holland, PA. Day two will be longer distances out to 600Y at New Holland Rifle & Pistol Club. Moving targets will be introduced, along with other exercises designed to get the student really driving their gear, and recording engagement information in their data book properly. The course is a very reasonable $110.00 per day. Please inquire via our contact page with any questions.

  • Unknown Distance Course (UKD) - Students will be guided in reticle based range estimation, and will perform UKD engagements on steel targets from 200 to 1000Y. Laser rangefinders may be used for only a small part of the course. This is an advanced level course and accordingly we must require that you have a solid foundation on range estimation, proper equipment (no hunting class rifles or discount optics), and a firm grasp on engaging targets out to 1000Y with your rifle. Contact us to discuss.
  • Kalashnikov Operation - Students will be exercised in many Kalashnikov-specific features, and learn how to operate this platform efficiently in several areas:
    • BRM - Basic Rifle Marksmanship
    • Deploying from sling (african, GI)
    • Knowledge and proper equipment operation
    • Speed and tactical reloading
    • Using the multi-purpose buttstock toolkit
    • Transition to pistol with at least two different techniques
    • Maintenance - cleaning after corrosive ammo
    • Bolt disassembly and cleaning
    • Rifle specific disarms
    • longer distance target engagement with the Kalashnikov
Know your opponent, but know yourself even better.
